Dental Implants

The Next Generation Of Root Canal Care

When You Have Missing Teeth, Dental Implants Can Provide Life-Changing Improvements

When it comes to delivering exceptional patient care, Dr. Jacqueline S. Allen and her staff at Phoenix Endodontic Group are dedicated to preserving their patients’ natural teeth whenever possible. We are also able to offer dental implants for patients who have lost one or several teeth.

Our practice uses advanced technologies to diagnose and treat injured or infected natural teeth. We also utilize these same tools to examine, diagnose, and treat dental implant patients. We provide customized care by being experienced in placing the following type of implants:

Endosteal implants, that use a titanium (or other metal) cylinder to integrate with bone in the socket of the missing tooth. Once the implant is integrated with the bone it is then restored by a general dentist with a crown.

When Are Dental Implants Used?

Dental implants may be considered whenever natural teeth are in danger of being lost or are already missing. If you are not a candidate for tooth-saving treatments such as root canal treatment, re-treatment or an apicoectomy then a dental implant may be the best choice for you.

Many dentists support implants replacing natural teeth because implants can maintain key components of your oral health. Dental implants can prevent further bone loss in your jaw, as well as arrest the “facial sag” that can happen in the lower-third of the face if multiple teeth are missing. Implants make speaking and eating much easier.

With implants, you will have few food restrictions and can enjoy foods like corn on the cob and steak – dishes that can be a real challenge to enjoy with missing teeth.

Dr. Allen Answers Some Common Questions About Dental Implants

Will it hurt to get dental implants?
The implant procedure itself is relatively pain-free, thanks to the use of local or IV sedation anesthesia. Post-procedure pain can be managed by following aftercare instructions, avoiding foods or activities that will aggravate the implant area while it heals, and practicing daily brushing and flossing.

How much time will it take to get my implants?

The type of implant selected and the number of teeth involved dictate the time needed to complete treatment. It can take as many as two or three visits spread out over weeks or months to complete the entire dental implant process – from removing your failing teeth and grafting the area, to placing the supporting posts in your jaw to adding the finishing restoration once the implant is healed. Our staff can walk you through your treatment plan and scheduling options.

What is the recovery time for dental implants?

The dental implant process can take months be fully completed. During this time, after your office visits it generally takes 2 to 3 days to feel better from the procedures performed.

The key factor in success is whether the implant, made of biocompatible materials, bonds with the jaw bone it is placed in. During this period, you’ll be able to continue many of your favorite activities, but you will eat a modified diet to ensure integration happens without undue stress being placed on the implants. Once the process is complete, you’ll be back to all your favorite foods!

What is the success rate of dental implants?

With today’s technology and advancements in care, implants potentially have high long term success rate – from 90 to 95 percent. Patient satisfaction is high, too, with 9 out of every 10 patients reporting happiness with their end result.
